Being a new mum can be so lonely ……
Everyone is at work , everyone is too busy with their own families and we just live so very far from most of our friends and family .
Watsapp and social media have replaced the ability to have a real conversation. No one phones you anymore to talk to you. Everyone just messages . You might as well be talking to a robot A robot that responds by saying very little and without any meaning. How are you ?
I’m fine. Etc etc
So you are left with your thoughts …… thoughts that can often become ruminating and unhelpful especially when you are sleep deprived and hungry. Thoughts that often trigger difficult feelings , things that you have buried away in your busy lives , things that no one wants to talk about , things that you are just too embarrassed to go into detail about .
So you sink deeper into an abyss. A deep dark abyss that disconnects you even more as you forget how to hold a conversation.
So you drag yourself up and walk to the nearest place with lots of people to feel alive again
And that for me is the supermarket. Where real people are.
Sometimes it just takes a kind stranger to talk to you on your trip to Tesco to lift you up. In that moment of actual interaction comes something so joyful and amazing. It reminds you that the world is incredibly kind and not everyone is being horrible to you.
Your hormone fuelled thoughts are confusing at the best of times but when someone looks you in the eye and talks to you and really listens to what you are saying ….. well it’s just a beautiful moment really . Just pure bliss.
