Reduced Rate Therapy

You’ve been meaning to look into therapy for months. But between rent, bills, and everything else life is currently throwing at you, it keeps sliding to the bottom of the list. We get it.

Reduced rate therapy at Self Space means working with a therapist in training who is attuned to their craft and genuinely committed to working together to get you to where you want to be.

Sessions are £35 for 50 mins – that’s less than a month’s worth of coffees!

What’s the deal with Reduced Rate Therapy?

Lower cost doesn’t mean lower quality. Our therapists in training are professionals working towards their full qualification. They show up fully. They’re skilled. And they’re in clinical supervision throughout your work together.

What you actually get: a consistent weekly in person space, a therapist who’s genuinely committed to your progress, and sessions at a price that makes regular therapy possible.

Sounds great, but is this right for me?

Everyone should have access to therapy. But when you’re already stretched (financially, emotionally, in every direction) it can feel like just another thing standing between you and actually getting help.

That’s what Reduced Rate Therapy is here for. It’s right for you if:

The cost of living has made full-price therapy unrealistic.

You want support. You just can’t fit it into your budget right now. (Trust us, we’ve all been there!)

You've been putting it off because of money, not because you don't need it.

Reduced rate therapy exists so that cost stops being the reason you don’t go.

You can show up weekly and do the work.

Having a dedicated space for you is part of what makes therapy work. These sessions are for people who are ready to show up and put the work in. (Minimum six sessions, with the option to continue – many clients stay for a year or more.)

You're okay working with someone who's still training.

They’re skilled, supervised, and genuinely invested.

If you’re currently experiencing.

Anxiety, low mood and depression, self esteem issues, relationship difficulties, stress, confusion around your identity or are handling major life transitions

If something just feels ‘off’.

Remember, you don’t always need to have a diagnosis or be in crisis to go to therapy. Looking after your mind means looking after yourself as a whole.

How we find your ideal therapist

A bit like a dating app but without the awkward one liners, we’ll match you with a therapist in training that can help you with exactly what you’re looking for. All you need to do is fill out this quick, five-minute form and we’ll pair you up.

About our therapists in training

Trainee doesn’t mean inexperienced.

Think about every professional you trust. Your GP, your accountant, your favourite yoga teacher, even your barista, they were all new once. Being in training doesn’t mean being unready. It means being supported, supervised, and genuinely motivated to get it right.

Our therapists in training have studied their approach in depth. They show up for their clients the way most of us show up for the things that really matter. The rate is lower because they’re building hours. The quality of care isn’t.

Every therapist and trainee working in the field is required to have external clinical supervision in place as a condition of their professional insurance. That’s not something we introduced, it’s the industry standard. But we didn’t stop there.

In clinical supervision

All our therapists in training are in ongoing external clinical supervision, as required for their insurance and qualification. On top of that, we provide additional complementary supervision in-house. Your therapist in training has independent oversight and our support. That’s two layers, one required, one extra, because we think that’s how it should be done.

Are You a Trainee Therapist Looking for a Placement?

At Self Space, we’re passionate about supporting the growth of trainee therapists and are excited to welcome applications from those on BACP, UKCP or HCPC accredited training courses.

To ensure an enriching and supportive placement experience, we ask that applicants:

– Have completed at least one prior placement seeing clients
– Be in their second year of training or have relevant experience in health and social wellbeing settings.

As part of our commitment to nurturing future therapists, we offer interviews for fully qualified therapists who wish to continue their journey with Self Space as freelance practitioners.
