Overview:

Hello there you. Founded in 2018, Self Space was launched to address a growing need for accessible and contemporary mental health support. We provide flexible, forward-thinking therapy to individuals and for some of the most progressive global companies from a broad range of creative and corporate industries, including tech, finance, advertising, marketing, hospitality and fashion. Our mission is to have a Self Space on every High Street and transform and modernise mental health culture by supporting individuals and companies to reach their full potential.

Intro:

As the Head of Commercial Finance at Self Space, you’ll play a really important role in driving our financial strategy and making sure we’re a sustainable, growing business.

You’ll work closely with the founders, leadership and operations to build a financially healthy Self Space, capable of expanding access to therapy and mental health support across both B2B and B2C audiences on a large scale. The role involves a combination of overseeing day-to-day financial ops, providing strategic insights through data analysis and supporting us with funding activities.

We’re looking for someone who played a part in the successful growth of early stage businesses.

Key responsibilities:

Financial Metrics, Business Insights & KPI Tracking:

  • Oversee internal financial and operational KPIs, providing analysis to support decision-making.
  • Conduct pricing model analysis and customer profitability analysis.
  • Lead strategic projects related to key financial matters as they come up.
  • Clear data analysis on products, revenue and areas of the business that could directly impact profitability and working with founders to implement this in the broader business strategy.
  • Lead the company’s annual budgeting processes.
  • Work with the finance team to create a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Forecasting, Budgeting & Planning:

  • Maintain revenue, margin, and cash flow forecasts.
  • Set team budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Own tracking financial and operating plan.
  • Conduct regular cost reviews and optimise spending.
  • Support overall business planning processes and drive improvements in forecasting and reporting.
  • Act as business partner to senior stakeholders, providing analysis to support key decisions.
  • Be the financial voice of the business, and the connector between us and our investors.

Commercial Drive:

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to make sure there’s alignment on strategies and goals with commercial objectives.
  • Working closely with the sales team to monitor pipeline, sales cycle and conversion rates, to ensure that the business has a clear path to deliver our revenue targets.
  • Implement robust tracking mechanisms to monitor progress towards sales and marketing targets.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to create detailed business plans on commercial opportunities (expansion, development of digital platform, business development etc.)
  • Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management.

Monthly Close & Tax Deadlines:

  • Validate, support and enable the work of our Finance Manager and their team.
  • Ensure timely delivery of taxes and accountancy filings.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses.
  • Monitor and improve internal accounting processes to facilitate scalability.

Fundraising Processes:

  • Support us in preparing for fundraising activities, including building financial models and forecasts.
  • Conduct scenario planning to determine the use of funds and impact on financial metrics.
  • Own and verify key metrics shared with investors, ensuring board-ready reports on a monthly basis.

You are:

  • A grafter and willing to be in it with us.
  • Passionate about making a positive impact on mental health in the wider world.
  • Experienced in financial analysis and projections.
  • Outcomes-driven with strong analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented and proactive in driving projects to completion.

You’ll be successful if you have:

  • An accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)
  • Extensive finance experience with national and international exposure.
  • Experience in similar roles within startup environments (workplace wellbeing and mental health a bonus)
  • Involvement in Series A to C fundraising processes.
  • A data-driven mindset with the ability to independently analyse operational and strategic plans.
  • Strong relationship-building skills both internally and externally.
