Family therapy with Self Space
A space to listen, to speak, and be held – together.
Every family has its ‘stuff’. We’re here to walk you through it. Together.

How It Works
- 20-minute intro session (free) – With no obligation to continue, this initial chat gives you a chance to get a feel for what Family Therapy is, and learn more about how it could support your own family. You’ll learn more about the process, therapists, and different options available to you.
- 75-minute consultation session (£200) – Available as a standalone session with a more solution-orientated focus, or as a kickstart to your 8-session package (see below).
- 8 x 50-minute sessions (£150 per session) – Our structured Family Therapy programme is designed to create enough space and time for real work and growth. Quick fixes don’t stick; ongoing sessions do.
For Families.
Led by therapists who truly ‘get it’, our Family Therapy sessions hold a deep understanding of what it means to be human. We acknowledge social, racial, and financial stressors, and know that no two families are the same.
- No long waitlists, no rigid formats – just flexible support for modern family dynamics.
- Accessible in-person or online, fitting around busy schedules.
- Understanding of blended families, co-parenting, LGBTQ+ dynamics, and diverse family structures.
- Focus on preventative mental wellbeing (where relevant), not just intervention if things fall apart.
For Businesses.
Future-thinking, human-first businesses know that we don’t leave our family stuff at the door when we come to work (even if we really want to). We work with these game-changing organisations, providing family therapy for their staff, supporting their people (and the business’ bottom line).
- Support your people as ‘whole people’; not just employees.
- Help to alleviate personal pressures, and benefit from improved professional performance.
- Offer more than a ‘tick box’ when it comes to your benefits package
Why Self Space?
Our Family Therapists are highly trained, experienced, and the crux of it? They genuinely care.
They understand blended families, co-parenting, LGBTQ+ dynamics, and diverse family structures. They’re skilled in facilitating impactful conversations between differing personalities, ensuring everyone is heard, seen and acknowledged. They know how to hold the space when things get tricky, and make a mean brew if it all gets too much.

“I have a background in working in both child protection and with young people and families in schools. I hold a fundamental belief that the greatest and most powerful change happens when we impact the entire ecosystem, not just one person.”
“Self Space Family Therapy is a powerful tool for creating lasting change for everyone involved. It provides a space for reflection, emotional expression, and the exploration of different experiences. It creates a supportive and intimate environment where the past can be processed, the present shaped, and the future becomes hopeful and progressive.”
“I’m very proud to be launching this product.”

Individual FAQs
Is family therapy only for families in crisis?
Not at all. At Self Space, we believe therapy is most powerful as a proactive tool. You don’t have to be falling apart to want to come closer together. Many families come to deepen connection, build understanding, or simply communicate better.
What kinds of families do you work with?
All families. Chosen families, blended, separated, queer, interracial, adoptive we’re here for the whole spectrum. You may also find that you want to explore your family dynamics with your siblings which we are finding quite common.
What happens in a family therapy session?
We create a space where every voice matters. Sessions might involve talking, listening, reflecting, and sometimes even playful exercises. Think of it as a conversation to get to know your family system better with the support of a therapist.
Can we come just once to see how it feels?
Yes. Our 90-minute consultation is designed as a standalone session. You’ll leave with insights, direction, and a therapeutic letter capturing where you are and where you might go. You may then decide to opt in for another one off consultation session once you’ve had some time to discuss as a family before pre-booking your 8 sessions of therapy.
What ages do you work with?
In person, we work with children aged 7+, and online with those 11+. Sessions are always adapted to be age-appropriate and engaging, especially for younger family members.
What if one of us isn’t sure about coming?
Totally normal. Therapy can feel like a big step. We meet you wherever you’re at, with curiosity you may want to try out our consultation which is a one off 75 minute session first before deciding on the 8 sessions.
Do we have to come in for each session?
Not at all, we understand busy lives very well, some sessions you may want to have a virtual session (as long as all members are 11+), just let your family therapist know and they’ll send you a guide for virtual sessions.
How often should we come to family therapy?
We usually recommend a minimum frequency of monthly sessions to keep momentum and give space to reflect in between. That said, we’ll work with you to find a rhythm that feels realistic and sustainable for your family life.
Can I just book individual sessions instead of the 8 sessions?
Unfortunately not, we believe in creating containment for sessions and once you start it’s great to keep the momentum going, you have up to a year to book these sessions in so have time to think about when suits your family the best factoring in holidays and big family events.
What can we expect from the 8 sessions?
Our 8-session model is designed as a gentle arc, beginning, middle, and end to help your family explore, reflect, and grow together.
- Weeks 1–3 are about getting to know you and understanding your family’s patterns, communication, and emotional landscape.
- Weeks 4–5 we go deeper, we explore things like rupture and repair, stress, and what it looks like to truly feel heard.
- Weeks 6–8 are about thinking forward, trying out change, building confidence, and deciding what to take with you when therapy ends.
