Sales Director

About us:

Hey, hello, hi, now then.

We’re Self Space, the world’s first on-demand mental health service on the high street. We’ve got spaces in Shoreditch, Kings Cross, Soho, London Bridge and soon to be: every city in the world. A front door. A place. A refuge for busy Londoners and others across the globe. A little shelter from the storm. People can see a qualified therapist within 1 hour. In-person or virtually. Open seven days a week, morning til’ night.

Powered by a team of hope holders, our qualified therapists are tasked with supporting clients to maintain good mental health, know themselves, find balance, be mentally flexible, build healthy relationships, thrive at work and ultimately reach their potential.

Working across B2C and B2B, we’re transforming the culture around therapy and mental health. One person, and one company at a time. Depop, Oatly, RedBull, Saatchi, Huel, Selfridges, Havas… to name a few. They partner with us to engage every layer of their business, making mental health a company wide initiative and sending their dead EAPs to the graveyard. We are a service that focuses on prevention and mental maintenance. Therapy, workshops, training and a digital community platform – not only for when people are feeling overwhelmed and unable to cope, but that people can flexibly access all year round to reach their full potential.

We’re on the lookout for a Sales Director who wants to make an impact on the world and be a key part of a proper purpose-led business.

Our Values matter a lot to us:

● We keep clients at the heart of what we do
● We’re radically compassionate
● We say what needs to be said
● We’re compassionately disruptive
● We take care of ourselves seriously
● We take responsibility
● We feedback generously

About the role:

As our Sales Director, you will have the opportunity to lead our enterprise sales strategy and shape our go-to-market approach across the UK. You will drive new business development while building the processes needed to scale our efforts and foster the growth and development of our team. You will take ownership, make impactful decisions, and see them through to completion. Your leadership will be pivotal in acquiring and expanding partnerships, and your success will directly contribute to improving more lives through therapy and therapist-led events.

You will join our team alongside two Sales Managers, Alex and Sam, who have already started laying the foundation for our go-to-market strategy. We are highly collaborative and intentional in our efforts, and you will work closely with our Marketing and Client Success teams to develop, execute, and refine a cohesive, holistic strategy. We pride ourselves on being consultative in our approach, excellent listeners, and exceptional relationship builders. While we are commercially driven, we balance purpose with profit.

Now, we are looking for a dynamic sales leader to elevate us to the next level. You will be passionate and proactive in building and nurturing relationships with HR professionals, People teams, and executives at top global employers. You are ready to dig in, lead by example, and use your leadership experience to craft and execute our long-term B2B sales strategy. You will work directly with our Co-Founders, COO, and Director of Marketing to define our go-to-market plan, shape compelling value propositions, motivate the team, establish effective reporting systems, and support our growth and scaling efforts.

Your immediate areas of work will include:

Strategic Planning and Execution

You’ll craft and implement sales strategies that align with Self Space’s mission and market trends, always staying ahead by spotting new opportunities and creating plans that align with the needs of businesses across the UK. This includes launching fresh products or services and fine-tuning our approach based on insights from market analysis and understanding what our clients truly need.

Client Relationship Management

You’ll build and nurture strong relationships with our clients, making sure they feel supported and valued. As their main point of contact, you’ll manage complex negotiations and address any concerns with care and precision, always striving to deliver an outstanding experience that fosters a long-term relationship with our clients. Sales Team Leadership

You’ll lead, mentor, and inspire our sales team to not just meet but exceed targets. By setting clear performance goals and continuously assessing progress, you’ll help shape a high-performing team. You’ll focus on development and growth, offering training that empowers each team member to thrive in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Revenue Growth

You’ll drive our revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities and building meaningful relationships with key B2B stakeholders. Through innovative pricing strategies and a proactive mindset, you’ll help us expand our footprint and ensure consistent sales performance in a competitive landscape.

Collaboration and Communication

You’ll collaborate closely with marketing, operations, and clinical teams, making sure our sales efforts align seamlessly with Self Space’s wider goals. Your role involves delivering regular sales insights, forecasts, and market analysis to our senior leadership, fostering a culture of transparency and informed decision-making.

What we’re looking for:

You’ll work closely with our Founders and COO and know how to utilise them to the business’ advantage when it comes to sales and partnerships. You’ll have experience in building out sales teams in ambitious start-ups generating £3-10M+. Warm, confident and hungry. We need someone who’s been around the block and knows their stuff when it comes to sales and

B2B GTM strategy. But more than that, someone who’s learned from the bumps along the way. You care about mental health, you care about people, and you care about making a difference. That’s the heart of what we do. No bullshit, no jargon. Just straight-up, honest communication. You know how to talk to people in a way that’s clear, compassionate, and real. When something needs doing, you’re on it. You don’t wait to be asked—you take action.

You’ll be a good fit if:

  • You have a proven track record of building and leading high-performing sales teams, consistently hitting and exceeding targets, and driving growth, particularly in scaling VC-backed startups.
  • You’re experienced in consultative selling, skilled in closing large (£100k+) deals, and adept at engaging senior decision-makers with a strategic, value-driven approach.
  • You bring strong business acumen with an entrepreneurial mindset, able to see the big picture and set effective targets that align with both Self Space’s goals and market demands.
  • You are passionate about coaching and developing people, fostering a supportive, high-performing team culture that values growth and collaboration.
  • You thrive in a fast-paced environment and are highly adaptable, organised, and capable of managing multiple priorities with a focus on results and continuous improvement.
  • You have exceptional communication and negotiation skills, able to influence at all levels, and are proficient in using CRM software and sales analytics tools.
  • You have experience in the healthcare or mental health sector, or a strong understanding of the industry’s market dynamics, regulatory environment, and key players.
  • You demonstrate a strong ownership mentality, are persistent and thoughtful in your approach, and are genuinely committed to creating value for both Self Space and our partners.

What we offer:

  • Eligibility for our EMI scheme after one year of employment.
  • 24 days of leave, including 3 days during the Christmas holidays and 1 day for your birthday.
  • Flexible working culture.
  • Bupa Private Healthcare upon successfully passing probation.
  • Parental Leave offered after 6 months of employment
  • Enhanced Policies around Bereavement/Compassionate Leave & Sick Leave
  • Access to £300 worth of therapy with an approved provider.
  • £100 successful referral voucher.
  • 2 volunteering days off.
Employment Type: Full Time
Salary: £85-95K, Uncapped OTE + Equity
Days per week: 5
Responsible to: COO & Founders
