THE MOMENTS THAT MATTER
In years to come, when we look back on our Christmases past, it won’t be the militantly-planned schedule of social events that we remember, nor the pristine decorations that we couldn’t really afford. It won’t be the forced cheer, faux merriment, or the insistence that we ‘love this time of year’.
It’ll be the moments that matter.
Kinship & Kindness
It will be our nan’s all-consuming hug when we arrive at her door on Christmas Eve, her house’s familiar smells enveloping us, reminding us that we’re safe and held. It’ll be the moment we rest our head on our partner, bleary-eyed and frazzled after hours of wrapping the kids’ presents. The kind stranger who helped us with our bags when it all got too much on Oxford Street. The tipsy yet beautifully sincere reassurances of how great we look from new-found girlfriends in the toilets of a Christmas party.
We can lose ourselves in the blur of fairy lights and tinsel, more alone than ever in contrived scenes of promised connection – but it’s the moments in between that will see us through. Those quiet instances of kinship, kindness and vulnerability, reminding us that we’re not alone. They won’t be grand, and probably not picture-perfect. But they will be the moments that matter.

We invite you to share these moments with us. The texts, the photos, the videos, the reflections — the fleeting conversations or serendipitous encounters. Whatever it is that feels significant to you, we’re here for it.
